What makes a poet?
Mixing discussion with performance, three rising stars dig deep into the questions of modern poetry, from its use in understanding and expressing identity, to the challenges faced in becoming a poet, to the sometimes fraught debate over spoken versus page poetry.
Afra Atiq is an award-winning Emirati poet who has been featured at events around the world.
Carlos Andrés Gómez is a Colombian-American poet from New York City and winner of the Atlanta Review International Poetry Prize among others. His most recent book is “Hijito“.
Farah Chamma is a Palestinian poet who writes in Arabic, English and French and who has made a name for herself as one of very few slam poets performing in Arabic.
Moderator: Jamil Adas is the Founder of The Poetryhood which is a poetry initiative aiming to provide a platform for poets & performers to freely express themselves and experience the variety of poetry flavor available across the planet.
